We lost an hour yesterday when we entered Kansas - went from Mountain Time to Central Time. We broke up today's driving with stops at Art Museums. The first stop was the Wichita Art Museum at a little after 11:
I had previously been here in October 2016, and they have a wonderful modest-sized collection:
Thomas Moran - "The Waterfall", 1857 oil:
Winslow Homer - "In the Mowing", 1874 oil:
N.C. Wyeth - "The Homesteader", 1930 oil:
Edward Hooper - "Sunlight on Brownstones", 1956 oil:
We entered Oklahoma at 12:44
I only discovered this morning that our first stop in Tulsa - the Gilcrease Museum IS CLOSED! That may be the biggest disappointment of this trip, because they have Such A Wonderful Collection, and I wanted to share it with Wendy. Tulsa is not that big, so I went to the door anyway:
Oh well - better luck next time.
Our next stop in Tulsa is the Philbrook Museum of Art:
Thomas Moran - "An Angry Sea", 1887 oil:
Thomas Moran - "Splendor of Venice", 1889 oil:
Thomas Moran - "Grand Canyon", 1907 oil:
Worthington Whittredge - "Morning in the Woods", c. 1868-75 oil:
Herman Herzog - "Sunset Glow", c. 1866 oil:
We left there and headed EAST into Arkansas:
Checked into the Super 8, Shiloam Springs, Arkansas at 5 PM:
Pretty Good Day after all - Thank you God for these wonderful adventures!
