I sure do like to visit the wide-open spaces out here:
In case you needed to know, October is Clergy Appreciation Month:
We got to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West at 10 AM:
Their Art Museum has SOME BEAUTIFUL STUFF:
Thomas Moran - "Pueblo at Sunset (Laguna)", 1901:
Albert Bierstadt - "Untitled (Estes Park, Colorado, Bierstadt Lake)", ca. 1877:
Albert Bierstadt - "The Last of the Buffalo", ca. 1888:
Thomas Moran - "The Golden Gate, Yellowstone National Park", 1893:
Albert Bierstadt - "Island Lake, Wind River Range, Wyoming", 1861:
We made a fun detour up into the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area:
We drove up to Devil Canyon Overlook - had lunch, and got GREAT VIEWS:
As I said to someone up there: "When did I make a wrong turn and wind up at the Grand Canyon??"
The Bighorn Mountains jump right up out of the prairie, and the view back down is wonderful:
At one point, I clicked over 111,111 miles on my Crosstrek, which also happened to be 6666.6 miles INTO THIS TRIP!!!
It was pretty cool driving through the Bighorn National Forest:
And "Willard's Spring" is still there, right on the side of Hwy Alt-14:
Just a pipe stuck in the ground where a spring comes out. People come from miles around.
The Shell Falls Interpretive Site (with their REALLY COOL waterfall) was closed ("open until mid-September", so I guess I just missed it), so we checked into the Arrowhead Lodge. Brenna checked me in, saying "I saw your car come in - you from Manchester-by-the-Sea?" I said "Sure", and she said "I'm from Salem!" We all laughed. The room was just ok, the dining was very good, and the bar afterwards was wonderful - a young couple came in to watch the football game, and he had gone to Middlebury College back in Vermont and had taken a couple of Environmental Studies courses from Wendy's cousin Jon (Jonathan) Isham!! Thank you God for this wonderful adventure day with my Beautiful Bride!
Music for today:
Pat Metheny - Bright Size Life, 1976 debut album

Charlotte Church - Voice of an Angel, 1998 debut album

Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks - The Blue Thumb Years 1971-1973, 1997

40's/50's swing music , which was insanely out-of-phase with the times. But if you are good, and you play your music with integrity, YOU WILL SOUND GOOD! And the result just might be a Relatively-successful career playing music that is "insanely out-of-phase with the times". Not a bad lesson to learn.
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - Live At Radio City [Disc 2], 2007

David Bromberg - The Player: A Retrospective, 1998

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms, 1985

Donald Fagen - Morph The Cat, 2006
