Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 - Explore Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park = 220 miles driving!:
Dead Horse Point is a very nice State Park, and right between Arches and Canyonlands, so if you are going to them, I recommend a quick trip down to Dead Horse Point. It is on a mesa jutting out into the Colorado River canyon, with its oxbow turns and vastness:
And there is even some Educational Material:
We then went up-and-over to Canyonlands National Park:
beginning by driving all the way to the end and doing the Grand View Point hike:
cool views at the end:
We then headed to the northwest part of the Park to see the Upheaval Dome:
We then headed down the road, checking in to the Rodeway Inn in Caineville/Torrey at 5 PM (it is in such nowhere that "they" cannot decide which town they are in):
They have a beautiful pool:
but we did have microwave dinners. The cliffs across the road are pretty cool:
Especially at 7:25 PM sunset:
Not quite the end of the day - at 9 PM we went out exploring, up a couple of dirt roads to find "Dark Sky". A little moon-sliver was out, and lit up the landscape, but the Milky Way stretched out overhead.
Then time for bed. Thank you God for these Wonderful Adventures, and for the physical ability to make this happen.
