Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 - exploring Arches National Park = 70 miles driving:
It is an easy, lazy day, with us getting to the Park around 10 AM (along with a few other people):
Just the first few minutes have Great driving photos:
It is good to get out and stretch your legs::
GREAT LANDSCAPE:
And then we got to our first main hike of the day - at Double Arch:
Wendy said "Oh Oh stop the car. I want to hike to that!" So we did:
We had a nice 3/4 mile hike in the desert, and got a really nice view of the arch, from the backside:
looking back down from the Arch:
Fabulous Ancient Tree:
Watch Out Where You Step!!
We then drove just a little bit to park for a hike to The Windows:
On the left is the North Window and the South Window, while over on the right is the Turret Arch. I went up to the right first, through the Turret Arch:
Go through the main Arch, and look back through both the Arch and one of The Windows:
SOOO COOL!!!
A nice shot showing the North Window (on the left) and the South Window (on the right):
and a final up-close-and-personal shot of the North Window:
We then drove up-and-around to hike to the Upper Delicate Arch Viewpoint (well, maybe I went a little farther):
While you are going UP THE TRAIL:
it is important to turn around once in a while:
Once we got to the end of the "official trail", I kind of kept going:
The Delicate Arch was far away:
so I got closer:
From my vantage point I had a great view of a lovely valley:
That was enough hiking for today, so we drove to the top of the Park:
Beautiful views on the way back to the Entrance (see the cars on the road!):
Fabulous Views down as we leave the Park
Wonderful Dinner at the bar at the Moab Brewery, then time for bed (2nd night at Super 8 Moab). Thank you God for these Wonderful Adventures, and for the physical ability to make this happen.
Driving Music:
some music for the dry arid landscape:
U2 - The Joshua Tree, 1987
lyrics: "":
In the locust wind
Comes a rattle and hum
Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding, 1967
Garland Jeffreys - Guts for Love, 1983
