Fall 2015 - Day 11: Beverly Hills, CA - The Getty Museum, Los Angeles, CA - Santa Barbara Museum of Art - Santa Barbara, CA

Wednesday, Sept 16, 2015 - Starting from Beverly Hills, California, drive west to The Getty Center, then 1 1/2 hours north to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, then up into the hills to stay with friends in Santa Barbara:

92 miles; 1 hour 43 minutes.

To quote their own pr: "the Getty Center incorporates the modern design of architect Richard Meier, with beautiful gardens, open spaces, and spectacular views of Los Angeles." It was maybe Wendy's favorite part of the museum complex:

And it has some pretty stunning veiws of the Los Angeles Basin:

But now on to the Art! No Hudson River School, but European:
Anthony van Dyck - Saint Sebastian Tended by an Angel, about 1630-32

Claude Monet - Wheatstacks, Snow Effect, Morning, 1891

Vincent van Gogh - Irises, 1889

an EXCELLENT J.M.W. Turner - Van Tromp, going about to please his Masters, Ships a Sea, getting a Good Wetting, 1844

Canaletto - The Grand Canal in Venice from Palazzo Flangini to Campo San Marcuola, about 1738

Hubert Robert - A Hermit Praying in the Ruins of a Roman Temple, about 1760

Bernardo Bellotto - View of the Grand Canal: Santa Maria della Salute and the Dogana from Campo Santa Maria Zobenigo, about 1743

And the driving up the California coast, with my best girl by my side, listening to the Beach Boys:

Thank You God!

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art is very nice, although they have a "no photos" policy in their Exhibition loaned from the Hammer Collection (3 Monets), they do have a nice Pannini in their permanent collection:
Giovanni Paolo Pannini - Saint Paul Preaching Among the Ruins, n.d.

Santa Barbara is a really nice place (the girls here look GREAT!):

Dinner at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club:

Thank You GOD for all these wonderful days!

Music today: only Beach Boys!
