2023 Fall Trip - Day 21-of-21 - Sept 27, 2023

Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023 - I don't have a picture of where I stayed last night, so just imagine an average Days Inn in some average American city. THIS IS MY LAST DAY - Still Heading East:

I got 22 Post Offices along the way today:

Fun adventures include back-tracking across the Susquehanna River at 7:55 AM:

Stopped at a Tim Horton's in Mount Cobb, Pennsylvania at 8:45 AM:

Crossed over the Delaware River at 10 AM:

I got a Post Office, car wash, Hanneford chips, gas, coffee refill, sandwich at a single exit - Scotchtown, New York:

Pretty Nature in Holmes, New York:

Always good to come Home, with its familiar roads:

Traffic in Burlington - Behind Me and Ahead of Me! I didn't see this in Nebraska or Iowa!!!

After 9,143 miles, HOME AT LAST (with a special dinner treat from Ellie's Pizza):

My favorite Post Offices today are:

TRADITIONAL - 06757 - Kent, Connecticut - nice clean lines:
and CHARACTER - 12563 - Patterson, New York - I can see What It Is, and Where It Is:

425 miles today; 9,143 miles for the whole trip. THANK YOU GOD for this WONDERFUL ADVENTURE, and for letting me travel SAFE AND SOUND!

Music for today:

Christian Scott - Yesterday You Said Tomorrow, 2010 - excellent jazz album:

Zero 7 - Yeah Ghost, 2009 - a band I enjoy, I listened to this twice because I would like to get this into the "more familiar" part of my brain:

various - The 70's (3 cds):

Joe Cocker - Joe Cocker!, 1969 2nd album:

Then I just wanted to listen to one of my favorite albums:

Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde, 1966 double album, with FUN LYRICS:

from "Visions of Johanna":

Mona Lisa must have had the Highway Blues
you can tell by the way she smiles

from "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again"

But the Post Office has been stolen.
And the mailbox is locked.

from "Absolutely Sweet Marie"

To live outside the law, you must be honest

Counting Crows - Somewhere Under Wonderland, 2014. It starts with "Palisades Park", which I think is one of their Best Songs:

Al Stewart - Between the Wars, 1995:

2023 Fall Trip - Day 20-of-21 - Sept 26, 2023

Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 - This is where I stayed last night:

Still Heading East:

I got 29 Post Offices along the way today:

OUCH - except for my Post Offices, I only took FOUR OTHER PHOTOS TODAY - here they are:

Stopped at a Tim Horton's in Springfield, Ohio at 8:10 AM:

Very Pretty roadside flowers in Diamond, Ohio at 2:30 PM:

I entered Pennsylvania at 3:10 PM:

and, finally, a nice shot of the Allegheny River⁩ near Emlenton, Pennsylvania at 4:20 PM:

"So," I hear you ask, "what else do you do ALL DAY, Dennis?" Well, actually, I pick up a lot of roadside litter - cans, bottles, papers, cvs bags. And I am always BLESSED in that the stuff is in my car for only 10-or-20 minutes before I come upon a roadside dumpster, or get gas at a Highway Filling Station; I figure since I'm buying their gas, I get to get rid of my trash. The whole world gets a little cleaner (and nicer).

I don't know if you have ever seen a CLOSED Post Office - 44214 - Burbank, Ohio (closed):

Of the Post Offices that are still open (get 'em now before they are all closed), my favorite Post Offices today are TRADITIONAL (my 1st Post Office today) - 45501 - Springfield, Ohio - VERY OFFICIAL:
and CHARACTER - 16030 - Eau Claire, Pennsylvania - I find the blue-on-red wonderfully disturbing/moire effect:

It was 9 PM when I checked in to the Days Inn in Scranton, Pennsylvania [589 miles] (THANK YOU GOD for letting me travel SAFE AND SOUND)!

Music for today:

Joe Jackson - Laughter & Lust, 1991 - I think this was the best album of the year:

The Pretenders - Pretenders, 1979 - because I'm in Ohio:

then staying with the "P" albums:

Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic, 1974 3rd album:

The Blues Project - Projections, 1966 2nd album. lyrics to "You Can’t Catch Me" (originally by Chuck Berry):

I bought a brand-new air-mobile
It was custom-made, it was a Flight De Ville
With a powerful motor and some hideaway wings
Push in on the button and you will hear her sing

Now you can't catch me, baby you can't catch me
'Cause if you get too close
You know I'm gone like a cool breeze

New Jersey Turnpike in the wee, wee hours
I was rolling slowly 'cause of drizzling showers
Here come a flat-top, he was moving up with me
Then come waving goodbye in a little old souped-up jitney
I put my foot in my tank and I began to roll
Moaning siren, it was a state patrol
So I let out my wings and then I blew my horn
Bye-bye New Jersey, I've become airborne

Now you can't catch me, baby you can't catch me
'Cause if you get too close
You know I'm gone like a cool breeze

Flying with my baby last Saturday night
Wasn't a gray cloud floatin' in sight
Big full moon shining up above
Cuddle up honey, be my love
Sweetest little thing I ever seen

I'm gon' name you Maybellene
Flying on the beam, set on flight control
Radio tuned to rock and roll
Two, three hours done passed us by
Altitude dropped to 505
Fuel consumption, way too fast
Let's get on home before we run out of gas

Now you can't catch me, no baby, you can't catch me
'Cause if you get too close
You know I'm gone like a cool breeze

Sade - Promise, 1985 2nd album:
