Saturday, Oct 3, 2015 - Starting from the Maligne Lodge in Jasper, Alberta (Jasper National Park), local stop for the Jasper SkyTram, then southeast down The Icefields Parkway (beautiful views & a bear!), continue on the Bow Valley Parkway (Hwy 1A) to the Royal Canadian Lodge in Banff, Alberta (Banff National Park):
190 actual miles; 4 hours driving
Our first adventure today was the Jasper SkyTram:
NOTE/Disclaimer: At the top, it was not this clear today! At the base station, you get a beautiful view of Jasper and the mountains around it:
Yes, that is frost-and-snow at the top:
Well worthwhile being at the top of the world:
but the clouds moved in quickly:
and we headed back down into the sunshine.
You just drive over a random bridge, and get a BEAUTIFUL VIEW south:
and north:
And then WE SAW A BEAR!!:
The beautiful views continue down The Icefields Parkway:
A nice creek on the way up to see Castle Mountain down near Banff:
Castle Mountain is a REALLY COOL mountain, especially with the clouds!
We spent the night at a GREAT hotel in Banff - the Royal Canadian (and even got room service for dinner!!!) Thank you GOD for such a super day, and for the beauty of this world!
