Fall 2016 - Day 25: Columbia, MO - Tim Hortons, Maplewood, MO - [TIME ZONE EAST] - Eskenazi Museum of Art, Bloomington, IN - Columbus, IN

Sunday, Oct 9, 2016 - Super 8, Columbia, MO - Tim Hortons, 2750 South Big Bend Boulevard, Maplewood, MO 63143 - [TIME ZONE EAST] - Eskenazi Museum of Art, Bloomington, IN (12-5) - Super 8 Columbus, IN:

382 total miles driving today!

It is nicer as I head east - 58º F at 9 AM. Thank You God for the cloud-cover as I drive east. I was on I-70 East for over 130 miles yesterday, and am on it for another 264 miles today - it deserves its own picture:

The Kemper Art Museum at Washington University was closed this weekend because of the Presidential Debate tonight, so I just headed down to the local Tim Hortons to get my FREE CUP OF COFFEE:

Then back on the road, past Busch Stadium:

and The Arch:

and the "Big Cross" in Illinois:

Farming is alive-and-well in Indiana:

as is the practice of just going out for a ride-through-town on Sunday afternoon:

I got to the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN) at 4:40 - 20 minutes is PLENTY OF TIME to "do a museum"! Highlights include:

Jackson Pollock - Number 11, 1949, 1949

John F. Kensett - Water Scene, ca. 1860-1870

Alexander Calder - Maquette for Peau Rouge Indiana, 1969:

And then two artists I was not familiar with (this is one good reason why I actually GO TO THE MUSEUM - to discover new art):

Charles Herbert Moore - Mountain View (In the Catskills), 1860

Julius Lange - Alpine Landscape, 1866:

Indiana University looked great:

The nice garden area outside my pizza place:

The view from my Super 8 in Columbus, Indiana:

Time to settle in and figure out tomorrow's adventures. Thank You God for these Great Days!

Music today - more "2nd Albums":

Maeve - Whatever Befall, 2007

Michael Franks - The Art of Tea, 1976

Lyrics: "Popsicle Toes" (a nice "geography song")
You got the nicest North America
This sailor ever saw.
I'd like to feel your warm Brazil
And touch your Panama
But Your Tierra del Fuegos
Are nearly always froze.
We gotta see saw
Until we unthaw those
Popsicle toes.

Paul McCartney - Ram, 1971

Q-Burns Abstract Message - Oeuvre, 1998

Scarlet Haven - Paleologos, 1999

Steely Dan - Countdown to Ecstasy, 1973

The Eagles - Desperado, 1973

I remember seeing Linda Ronstadt at a club in Philadelphia, and she told a story of how her friend, Don Henley, had had "writer's block" for a long time, but then broke out of it with "Desperado".

The Police - Regatta de Blanc, 1979

The Title Track is maybe my favorite Police song.

Wait, I thought "Bring On The Night" was my favorite Police song? It's ok, because that song is on this album too!

Wait, what about "Walking On The Moon"?

Oh yea; well, that's on this album too!

Sting - Bring On The Night, 1986

Continuing to play "Check Off The License Plates". Today I saw: AR, AL, NE, TN.

Temperatures today: 58º at 9 AM; 79º at 2:17 PM
