Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025 - Through The Desert, then into California today - 575 miles ending up at the Super 8, Redding, CA:
Didn't I start the day right:
I went out into The Desert, looking for the Post Office in 89418 - Unionville, NV:
I asked locals where was the Post Office? They didn't think they had one, but maybe up the road. This is what "up the road" looks like:
So I headed back out, went south-then-west-over-the-mountains to get back to I-80:
I find that, not matter my speed, if I can keep the rpms at 1700, I get EXCELLENT milage:
I definitely need to research what those Highway Signs mean:
PRETTY COOL - and if you have to drive through the Nevada Desert, you might as well do it at 100 degrees:
I got to California at 4:18
Wonderful Views:
It is always nice finding a "Vista Point" - this one is overlooks The Pit River:
"California Sunset" at 7:58
Checked-in at 8:33 PM - 575 miles today (and 16 Post Offices):
This is what they looked like:
My favorite today is 96028 - Fall River Mills, CA:
Thank you God for another wonderful Adventure Day!
Music for today:
The Who - It's Hard, 1982 album, last heard (in a blog) 3/24/2018 - Athena, the title track, and Eminence Front make this a keeper:
Alice Cooper - Killer, 1971 album, last heard (in a blog) 6/01/2018 - pretty funky listening to this while driving through the desert:
Jackson Browne - Lawyers in Love, 1983 album, last heard (in a blog) 12/06/2018:
Jackson Browne - Lives in the Balance, 1986 album, last heard (in a blog) 6/09/2018:
Jackson Browne - The Naked Ride Home, 2002 album, last heard (in a blog) 9/14/2018:
Jackson Browne - Running On Empty, 1977 live album, last heard (in a blog) 11/09/2020 - there is a lot to dicuss about listening to a Road Album while I am out on-the-road, but I have time-limitations:
10,000 Maniacs - MTV Unplugged [Live], 1993 album, last heard (in a blog) never:
Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson - Navigators of Dune, cds 9 + 10, 2016 audiobook:
Afro Celt Sound System - Volume 1: Sound Magic, 1996 debut album, last heard (in a blog) never:
Rod Stewart - Never A Dull Moment, 1972 album, last heard (in a blog) 9/19/2023 - I want to rock out (with stuff I know by heart):
Sam Cooke - Live At The Harlem Square Club, 1963, recorded 1963, released 1985, last heard (in a blog) 9/08/2021 - Because Rod Stewart's album ends with Sam Cooke's "Twistin' the Night Away":
