Grand Canyon/Los Angeles - Day 1

Sunday, November 12, 2017 - You probably can't tell, but Wendy and I flew from Boston to Las Vegas:

As are almost all of my trips, this one started with a combination-of-ideas. Even though I have visited the Grand Canyon twice (1972 after my freshman year at Penn, and 2014 bringing Deede's bike back home from the west coast), Wendy HAS NEVER BEEN! The past two attempts to get out here have been cancelled at the last minute, so let's try again ("third time's the charm"??). I am also selling a piece of original comic art at an auction in Los Angeles Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, and it would be pretty cool to be there when the hammer goes down. So let's book it, Danno!

Day 1 (Sunday) is fly to Las Vegas, and spend the night there.
Day 2 (Monday) gets us over to the Maswik Lodge in Grand Canyon Village, for 2 nights.
Day 3 (Tuesday) is "doing stuff at the GRAND CANYON".
Day 4 (Wednesday) gets us scenically west to Barstow, California.
Day 5 (Thursday) gets us to a friend's house in Bel Air, via 3 art museums.
Day 6 (Friday) is museum-and-auction day.
Day 7 (Saturday) is play-in-LA day (USC plays UCLA in The LA Coliseum this evening!).
Day 8 (Sunday) is go-to-church day, then fly home!

Nice "who did the lighting" at Logan Airport:

Good flight out - I worked on a new app - Where's Monet:

Dollar Rent a Car was easy:

Las Vegas was all bright lights:

And it was GREAT seeing the weather report for the week!!:

THANK YOU GOD for getting us out here safe-and-sound!
