Day Three: Hershey, PA - Gettysburg National Military Park - Hot Springs, VA

303 miles driven today, 8 hours

The first stop today was Gettysburg National Military Park. As I have said before, the whole area has an appropriately somber vibe. There is respect for the fallen soldiers, and a huge amount of sadness regarding wasted lives, and the horror of war.

Round Top and Little Round Top look peaceful today, but they were the site of a blood bath 151 years ago, on July 2, 1863, the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg.

The Angle is a defensive line established by Gen. Meade, looking west

Four hours down to The Homestead, Hot Springs, VA (stopping for lunch in Smithsburg, MD)

not a cloud in the sky!

After sitting in a car all day, I got out and stretched my legs - 4 miles in one hour on the North Trail:

yes, there is still snow on their ski slopes!

the views were beautiful!

And, of course, the view at dinner was also GREAT!
