Left the Homestead at 9:30, pulled into the Red Roof Inn in Charlottesville at 2:30. 161 miles driven today.
Starting with a beautiful Scenic Overlook
we made our way down to Natural Bridge, VA
I love comparing the natural formations with the art that they inspired. This is Frederick Church's painting of the Natural Bridge, that we will see tomorrow at UVA's Fralin Museum
Walking under the Natural Bridge, we made our way up Cedar Creek Trail
and wound up at Lace Waterfalls
Yes, it was a lightly rainy day while we were there - the big downpours came later on the highway and in Charlottesville. Just crashed for a few hours, then a wonderfule evening at a Darden classmate's who settled in Charlottesville in 2000. More Darden stuff tomorrow!
