Washington/Baltimore Feb. 2022 Day 3

Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 - Wendy has a retreat this weekend, so I did a Road Trip to D.C. Museums. After 2 days on the road, I'm heading home today:
I'm going to see 3 museums on the way - Baltimore Museum of Art, The Walters Art Museum, and (in Dover, Delaware) the Biggs Museum of American Art

I left at 9:30
and got to the Baltimore Museum of Art just after 10 AM:

Some lovely pieces, national and international, in their collection:

Thomas Cole - "A Wild Scene", 1831-32 oil:

John Frederick Kensett - "View on the Hudson", 1865 oil:

Rembrandt van Rijn - "Christ Crucified between the Two Thieves (The Three Crosses)", 1653 drypoint/etching:

Claude Monet - "Waterloo Bridge, Sunlight Effect with Smoke", 1903 oil:

Claude Monet - "Charing Cross Bridge, Reflections on the Thames", 1899-1904 oil:

Jean-Adrien Guignet - "Afterglow on the Banks of the Nile", c. 1840-48 oil:

Francesco Guardi - "Venice, The Grand Canal with San Geremia, Palazzo Labia, and the Entrance to the Cannaregio", c. 1750 oil:

Francesco Guardi - "Venice, The Grand Canal with Santa Maria della Salute", c. 1750 oil:

Well - that was FUN:

I then went down the road to The Walters Art Museum:

Robert S. Duncanson - "River Scene", 1868 oil:

Edger Degas - "Before the Race", 1882-84 oil:

J.M.W. Turner - "Raby Castle, Seat of the Earl of Darlington", 1817 oil

Gustave Dore - "Landscape in Scotland", ca. 1878 oil:

Alexandre Calame - "The Jungfrau, Switzerland", 1853-55 oil:

I said Goodbye to The Walters:

(I think I got my steps today):
MapMyWalk gets a little funky, but you get the general idea.

and I made my way over to the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, Delaware:

Thomas Cole - "Landscape composition (Summer Sunset)", c. 1844-46 oil:

Christopher Pearce Cranch - "The Waterfall", 1851 oil:

William Trost Richards - "Bouquet Valley, Adirondacks", 1866 oil:

William Louis Sonntag - "A Mountain Stream in Western Pennsylvania", c. 1870s oil:

I left there just after 2 PM, and crossed over the "William V. Roth Jr. Bridge" in St. George's, Delaware 40 minutes later:

I reached the New Jersey State Line at 3 PM, and the New York State Line 2 hours later. And then it was time to go over the Tappan Zee Bridge Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge:

I missed the quick little turnoff for the Hutchinson River Parkway, so just kept going to I-95. Up to New Haven, up to Hartford, over to the Mass Pike, and then 128 all the way home (just before 9 PM) [555 miles today - 1078 miles for the 3 days] Chunky Beef Soup for dinner, then bed. WOW - Thank You God for this Wonderful Adventure Day/Three Days!

Counting Crows - Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation), 2012

U2 - No Line on the Horizon, 2009
