Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 - WOW DE WOW DE WOW - Scott gave us a FULL DAY tour through Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks!!:
Um, of those 269 miles, I drove ZERO!
Big Fog was just clearing as we headed out this morning (7:42):
The BEAUTY started immediately:
We made a quick stop at the Chapel of Transfiguration:
and its iconic view from the pews out past the altar:
Views of the Tetons:
And then into Yellowstone, beginning with the Snake River (one of my Favorite Rivers):
and then a couple of waterfalls: Moose Falls:
upstream
the Falls
downstream
Lewis Falls:
I do love these National Parks streams and meadows:
Stopped for lunch at The Lake Yellowstone Hotel Dining Room:
Then back on the road to see lakes:
and thermal pools/hot springs:
Then up the South Rim Drive:
to see the view from Artist Point: The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (looking west):
Thomas Moran was here: The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, 1872 (Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC):
I look forward to someday visiting, and doing a blog about, all the sites Thomas Moran visited and painted here in Yellowstone (Tower Falls, Great Blue Spring, Head of the Yellowstone River, Hot Springs of Gardiner's River, Mammoth Hot Springs, etc). That will really show some art-and-nature!
The view from the north side of the Canyon:
Don't forget the WILDLIFE!:
More waterfalls, geysers, and beautiful views:
Before ending the day with a concert at St. John's Episcopal Church in Jackson Hole, WY:
WHAT A GREAT DAY!! Thank You God for these wonderful adventures!
Still playing "Check Off The License Plates" - IL, OK, KS, and Germany today.
