Saturday, March 13, 2021 - During these "COVID times", I have been trying not to look at "Art Exhibition News" - I know I will just be disappointed that I cannot/should not travel out-of-state to see beautiful works of art. But hey - that certainly leaves in-state Museums!! It turns out that the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston) is displaying ALL THEIR MONETS (well, not the 2 pastels in their collection):
NOTE: This exhibiton is only up through March 28!
I got tickets, and Wendy and I visited on Saturday, March 13 - we left "the guys" at home, doing research:
I was excited because there are 11 paintings in their collection that I have never seen, plus I-don't-know-how-many pieces from Private Collections! The MFA does an excellent job managing people during these trying times, and I was able to "exercise patience" waiting for people in front of me to finish their audio-tour of a particular painting. Highlights include "Pieces I Have Not Seen":
"Entrance to the Village of Vétheuil in Winter", 1879
"Charing Cross Bridge (overcast day)", 1900
"Pieces From Private Collections":
"Sunset on the Sea, Pourville", 1882
"Morning on the Seine, near Giverny", 1897
(it is A LOT OF FUN seeing "multiples"):
And it is always a joy seeing "Old Friends":
"Fisherman's Cottage on the Cliffs at Varengeville", 1882
"Valley of the Petite Creuse", 1889
"Water Lillies", 1907
Other highlights from today's visit:
Jackson Pollock - "Number 10, 1949", 1949:
Albert Bierstadt - "The Buffalo Trail", c. 1867 oil:
Frederic Edwin Church - "Cayambe", 1858 oil:
Out of there at noon - car wash, and lunch at IHOP - Thank You God for a Great little adventure!!
